We stayed for 2 nights at Yukon Motel RV Park in late July, 2018. This is a full service, clean, and well-maintained Good Sam park.

For 2 nights at a 30 amp partial hookup water/electric pull-thru site we paid about $36(CN) per night, including tax and Good Sam discount. There were no fees for pets or an extra vehicle.

Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 3/5

The campground is accessible via paved roads. Lanes in the campground are well-maintained gravel. The park has both pull-thru and back-in sites and can accommodate large rigs. The campground facilities have some provisions for Universal access.

Facilities/Amenities – 3/5

The campground offers basic amenities, including full and partial hookup sites, tent sites, RV dump station (free with fuel fill-up), propane service, restrooms and free showers, and coin-op laundry. Facilities were clean, although the washrooms could use repairs or a renovation.

The Yukon Motel complex also features a gas station, gift shop, restaurant and natural history museum. (We really enjoyed the home-made pies at the café!)

Site quality – 3/5

RV Sites have full or partial (water/electric) hookups, and a picnic table. Electric service is 30/20 amp. Sites are mostly level gravel, with little separation between sites. The campground has back-in and pull-thru sites. The campground is in a mosquito-controlled area.

Scenic Value – 4/5

The park has a lovely view of Nisutlin Bay, the Nisutlin Inlet Bridge and surrounding forested hills. The campground has some shade trees but is mostly an open parking lot layout.

Location/Isolation – 3/5

Although the park has nice views of the Nisutlin Bay, the open campground layout does not lend a feeling of isolation. The campground is generally quiet, although noise from the Alaska Highway is noticeable at times.

Paws Friendliness – 3/5

The campground is pet friendly and has a pet walk area with cleanup bag station, but does not have an enclosed pet run. The park is large enough for a fair walk with your pet. Trails lead down to the bay for those with water-loving pets.

Overall Rating – 3/5

Overall, the Yukon Motel RV Park is a convenient place to stay while traveling the Alaska Highway or for a longer stay to explore the area. We enjoyed our stay here and would return another time.

Additional info

Internet access

We received a weak to moderate 4G signal at this campground. Access was roaming, but did not cost extra with our Verizon Unlimited plan. High speed data usage throttled down after 500 Mb per device per day. The campground did not have WiFi service. Free WiFi was available at the restaurant.

Water Quality

The campground water tested hard – we added our water softener to the water filtration stack.
