Ratings (1-5)
Accessibility – 4/5
The campground is accessible from Interstate I-335 or US-75 via paved streets, although the route may be somewhat round-about. Use caution with GPS that you are not directed onto a gravel road (with a low overpass?) just outside of the campground!
Lanes in the park are reasonably well-maintained asphalt or gravel. The park has pull-thru and back-in RV sites and can accommodate large rigs. The campground facilities have provisions for Universal access.
Facilities/Amenities – 4/5
The park amenities include full hookup 50 or 30 amp RV sites, tent sites, cabin rentals, restrooms, showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, cable TV, propane service, camp store, pavilion, playground, enclosed pet run, 3 fishing ponds, and seasonal salt water swimming pool. Facilities are clean and well-maintained.
Site quality – 4/5
RV sites are full hookup with 50 or 30 amp electric, Wi-Fi, picnic table, fire ring, and cable TV. Park sites are pull-thru or back-in, clean, generally spacious, and many have shade trees. Site surface is gravel. Deluxe RV patio sites and deluxe cabins are available.
Scenic Value – 5/5
The campground is nicely landscaped, clean, and park-like with large grassy areas, fishing ponds, and sweeping countryside views.
Location/Isolation – 4/5
The campground is adjacent to a busy highway US-75 so does get some road noise. Sites are good sized and do not feel crowded.
Paws Friendliness – 5/5
The campground is pet friendly, with cleanup stations and a large K9 Kamp enclosed off-leash pet runs. The campground is large enough for a good walk with your pet.
Overall Rating – 5/5
Overall, the Topeka / Capital City KOA Journey is a convenient and relaxing place to stay while visiting the Topeka / Capital City area. We enjoyed our short stay and would visit another time.
