Details
We stayed for 2 nights at River’s Edge RV Park & Campground in late August, 2018. This is a full service, clean, and well-maintained park. The owner was very friendly, welcoming and hard working. The park is under new management/ownership and is undergoing renovations.
Cost
For 2 nights at a 30 amp full hookup pull-thru site we paid about $31(CN) per night. There were no fees for pets or an extra vehicle.
Ratings (1-5)
Accessibility – 4/5
The campground is easily accessible from highway AB-2. Lanes in the campground are well-maintained gravel. The park has both pull-thru and back-in sites and can accommodate large rigs. The campground facilities have provisions for Universal access, although poor placement of trashcans near the top of the bathhouse ramp could restrict movement.
Facilities/Amenities – 3/5
The campground offers basic amenities, including full hookup sites, tent sites, RV dump station, patio area, restrooms and showers.
Site quality – 4/5
RV sites have full hookups, fire ring, and picnic table. Electric service is 30 or 20 amp. The campground has back-in and pull-thru sites. Sites are level gravel, generously sized, and have fair separation between sites. Some sites are shaded.
Scenic Value – 4/5
The campground is open and park-like, with a scattering of cottonwoods, poplars, and conifers. The campground is on the shores of scenic Old Man River.
Location/Isolation – 4/5
The campground is conveniently located just off Highway AB-2 and is close to shopping and services in Fort MacLeod. The campground is relaxing and park-like, but does get some road noise from the highway.
Paws Friendliness – 4/5
The campground is pet friendly, but does not have an enclosed pet run or cleanup bag stations. The park is large enough for a decent walk with your pet.
There is easy access from the campground to Old Man River for water-loving pets. Do exercise caution before allowing your pet into the water, though, as the river may be too high or swift flowing.
Overall Rating – 4/5
Overall, the River’s Edge RV Park & Campground is a nice and relaxing place to stay while travelling through Alberta. We enjoyed our visit here and would return another time.
Additional info
Internet access
We received a moderate 4G signal at this campground. Access was roaming, but did not cost extra with our Verizon Unlimited plan. High speed data usage throttled down after 500 Mb per device per day.
Water Quality
The campground water tested moderately hard.
As noted, the park is under new management/ownership – so new that the water system was still being certified at the time of our visit. Pending test results, campground water hookups were required to be marked as ‘Non-Potable’. Test results were received from the Province the second day we were in the campground, with water quality certified as safe for consumption – Potable. Congratulations to the park on passing with flying colors!
