Emigrant Lake County Recreation Area is a lovely Jackson County park on the Emigrant Lake reservoir located near Ashland, Oregon, at the southern end of the scenic Rogue Valley. This popular park has sweeping vistas of Emigrant Lake, rugged mountains, and rolling, grassy, oak-dotted hills. The park has several campgrounds, including The Point RV Campground, Oak Slope Campground, and a group campground. The park features picnic areas, a water park, and many fun activities like biking, running, boating, and fishing. This is a great park to relax at or to use as a base to explore the many recreation, arts, and entertainment offerings of the Rogue Valley.

Details

We have stayed twice at The Point RV Campground in the Emigrant Lake County Recreation Area – one night in late June, 2014, and four-nights in mid April, 2018. Photos and details in this post are from our 2018 stay.

Cost

For four-nights at a 50 amp full hookup back-in site in The Point RV Campground, we paid about $38 per night, including an $8 online reservation fee and a $6 per night extra vehicle fee. There were no extra fees for pets.

Ratings (1-5)

Accessibility – 5/5

The campground is easily accessible from Interstate I-5 via well-maintained paved roads. Park roads and lanes are well-maintained asphalt. The Point RV Campground has both pull-thru and back-in sites, can accommodate large rigs, and sites are nicely angled for easy access. The Oak Slope Campground has smaller pull-thru and back-in sites, suitable for tents or small RVs. The campground facilities have provisions for Universal access.

Facilities/Amenities – 4/5

The Point RV Campground offers basic amenities, including full hookup sites, restrooms and showers. The Oak Slope Campground has no-hookup sites for tents or small RVs, water hydrants, restrooms and showers. The park also features an RV dump station, boat launches, playground, picnic areas with shelters and barbecues, and water park with snack stand. Facilities were clean and well maintained.

Site quality – 5/5

The Point RV Campground sites have full hookups with 50/30/20 amp electric, fire ring and a picnic table. Sites Oak Slope Campground are dry with a fire ring and a picnic table. Sites are paved, with good separation between sites. Many sites have shade trees. 

Scenic Value – 5/5

The park has spectacular views of Emigrant Lake, rugged mountains, and rolling, grassy, oak-dotted hills. The park roads wind around rolling hills and through stands of oaks.

Location/Isolation – 5/5

The campground is in a quiet rural area of the southern Rogue Valley. The campground is generally quiet, except for the buzz of watercraft on the lake or the occasional drone of small planes flying overhead. This is a popular campground and is quite busy on weekends, holidays and during summer.

Paws Friendliness – 5/5

The campground is pet friendly, but does not have cleanup bag stations or an enclosed pet run. The park is large enough for long walks with your pet. Some park areas are off-limits to pets. Easy access to the lake is great for water-loving pets.

Overall Rating – 5/5

Overall, the Emigrant Lake County Recreation Area campgrounds are a lovely place to stay, with many fun activities. The park is a good base from which to explore the Rogue Valley area. We enjoyed our stays here and would love to visit another time.

We received a moderate 4G Verizon signal at this campground. The campground does not have WiFi service.

Water Quality

The water at this campground tested soft – we did not add our water softener to the water filtration stack.
