Description
The Cheyenne KOA Journey is a well-maintained basic campground in the high plains and big sky country of eastern Wyoming. The campground is conveniently located near Interstate I-80 on the east side of the historic cattle town of Cheyenne. The park is a great place to stop while passing through the area or for a longer stay to explore the many historical sights of Wyoming’s Capital.

Details
We stayed for two-nights at the Cheyenne KOA Journey in mid August, 2019. Staff was friendly at check-in and throughout our stay.
Cost
For two-nights at a 50/30 amp full hookup gravel pull-thru site, we paid $57.60 per night, including taxes and KOA Value Kard Rewards Discount. There were no additional fees for pets or an extra vehicle.

Accessibility – 4/5
The campground is easily accessible from Intestate I-80 via paved streets. Lanes in the park are well-maintained gravel. The park has pull-thru RV sites and can accommodate large rigs. The campground facilities have provisions for Universal access.
Facilities/Amenities – 4/5
The park amenities include full hookup 50/30 amp RV sites, tent sites, rental cabins, restrooms, showers, laundry, Wi-Fi, cable TV, dump station, firewood sales, propane service, camp store, heated swimming pool, Kamping Kitchen, playground, mini golf, horseshoes, basketball, community fire pit, pavilion, free yard games, and a pet run. Facilities are clean and very well-maintained.
Site quality – 4/5
RV sites are full hookup with 50/30 amp electric, Wi-Fi, and cable TV. Sites are pull-thru, gravel, large, and clean. Tent sites have packed sand/gravel pads or grass. Some sites have shade trees.
Scenic Value – 3/5
The campground is very basic and utilitarian – much of it is a gravel lot.
Location/Isolation – 3/5
The campground is near the interstate and a light industrial/warehouse area so does get some truck and traffic noise. Sites are large and do not feel crowded, although site layout is open and there is no privacy between sites.
Paws Friendliness – 5/5
The campground is pet friendly, with cleanup stations and an enclosed off-leash pet run. The campground is large enough for a fair walk with your pet.
Overall Rating – 4/5
Overall, the Cheyenne KOA Journey is a convenient place to stay while passing through the area. We enjoyed our short stay and would visit another time.
