Campground Review – Guajome Regional Park, Oceanside, California

Description

Guajome Regional Park is a lovely green-space set in the coastal hills above Oceanside. This county park is an oasis of peace amidst this vibrant and bustling coastal community. The park features picnic and fitness areas, playgrounds, and about 4.5 miles of hiking trails through varied coastal habitats – chaparral, woodlands, marshy wetlands and mixed grasslands. The campground is nicely landscaped and is conveniently close to the many historic and tourist attractions of Oceanside, making for a great base from which to explore the area.

Summary of the Winter Past and Preview of the 2019 Travel Season

The 2018-2019 winter season was relatively low-key for us and passed quickly. Kim, the pups, and I are in good health and our vehicles and fifth-wheel are in good repair. We spent the winter in southern-California, alternating time between Silent Valley Club and other area parks –
perennial favorites: Banning Stagecoach KOA, Lake Skinner Recreation Area, Rancho Jurupa Regional Park – as well as new parks: Guajome Regional Park and Stagecoach Trails RV Resort and Horse Camp.

Travel Itinerary 2018 – Alaska Part VI – End of Travel Season

From Banff, Alberta, we headed east on the Trans-Canada Highway, AB-1, towards Calgary, Alberta. We had lovely views of the Canadian Rockies along the way, although these quickly gave way to rolling foothills and then the open expanses of the Great Plains. At Calgary we turned south and headed towards the US/Canada border and Great Falls, Montana.

By now we were feeling rather exhausted from all the travel and decided to make a fairly quick trip back to our winter grounds in SoCal. For our return trip we decided to travel quickly, with short stops and little sight-seeing, except for a few longer stays while visiting friends along the way. This would mean getting back in early October, nearly a month earlier than we originally planned.

This open and park-like campground features many shade trees and is right on the scenic shore of Old Man River. This is a lovely and relaxing park to stop at while travelling through Alberta.

From Stewart, BC, we made our way across British Columbia towards Jasper National Park in Alberta. The morning we left Stewart was lovely, with tattered clouds hugging the mountain slopes and mist rising from the rivers and lakes along the way. Our route took us along the spectacularly scenic Glacier, Cassier-Stewart, and Yellowhead Highways, BC-37a, BC-37, and BC-16, respectively.
