DescriptionThe Buffalo KOA Journey is nicely landscaped and quiet campground conveniently located just off Interstates I-25 and I-90 on the outskirts of Buffalo, Wyoming. This park makes for a good stop about half-way between Yellowstone National Park (244 miles) and Mt. Rushmore National Monument (238 miles).
(Late July – mid August) From Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, we wound our way east and north to Coram, Montana, for a two-week stay near Glacier National Park. Our route took us through lovely mountain country and past scenic Flathead Lake – an otherwise gorgeous drive marred at times by heavy smoke from forest fires burning somewhere to the south and west. While in Coram we stayed at the North American RV Park, a nice private park within just a short drive to the west entrance of Glacier National Park. The park made a great base for exploring the area and we enjoyed our stay there, although this was not the quietest campground – the park receives a lot of road noise from busy highway US-2 and a nearby railroad. The Hardin KOA is conveniently located just a short distance off interstate I-90, north of Hardin, Montana. This nicely shaded park is set in rolling farmland along the Bighorn River valley. This campground makes for a nice stop-over while traveling the I-90 or as a base to explore area attractions, such as the Little Big Horn Battlefield or Pompey’s Pillar National Monument.
DescriptionThe Great Falls KOA is conveniently located just off US-87 on the eastern outskirts of Great Falls, Montana. The park is beautifully landscaped and features an impressive water park for the kids. The park has recently expanded, adding a large new section to the campground. This campground is a peaceful place to stop for a few nights while passing through the Great Falls area.
DescriptionThe North American RV Park and Yurt Village is a lovely RV resort set in the scenic forested mountains near Glacier National Park. This campground is privately owned, well-maintained and makes a great place to relax while exploring Glacier National Park and surrounding area.
(Late July, 2017) From Missoula, Montana, we moved on to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, for an eight-night stay at the Blackwell Island RV Resort on the scenic shore of Lake Coeur d’Alene. We had heard many good things about this jewel of a lake and were anxious to spend some time there exploring the area – we were not disappointed.
